Thinking back on some the first times music really had an impact for me as far as television and movies, this is a great example. When I first saw this, I had to get the Buffalo Tom CD and play it on repeat. Or was it a cassette? LOL. Who remembers this classic moment from one of the best TV shows of all time "My So-Called Life?"

The Best in the Business
When it comes to Music Supervision, to me, the best is Alexandra Patsavas. This piece from "Twilight Saga: New Moon" is the perfect example of some of her best work.
And that's why I want to be a Music Supervisor
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Like most kids, I hated this question. I love movies, TV, and music. But- I couldn't pick. I knew I didn't have the calling to be a film maker. I am absolutely fascinated by television production, especially the early years. And music has always been in my family. My Great Grandfather was a music director, my Grandfather owned a state of the art recording studio in Miami in the 50s that courted the likes of Elvis Presley and Mick Jagger. My Grandfather, always the day dreamer, wasn't a very good businessman and signed over his half of the business. Growing up I heard all the stories, but I did not get to experience any of them. My Uncle is also very musically talented, he had "the ear" for music. He could hear a tune and play it. Amazing. I had a lot of fun with that as a kid, watching my Uncle pay any melody I threw at him. The instrument didn't matter either. He could play piano, violin, guitar, banjo, anything he got his hands on.
Anyway- with all this information, I never knew exactly what I wanted to do. Sharing music with friends, finding the right music for parties and award shows for work events was and is something I love. But I never knew the name for it, and never knew I could make a career out of it, until this. Watching Star Trek 2009, I had a major light bulb moment. So thank you Michael Giacchino, for helping me realize my dreams. You did exactly what I would have done if I was given the task. Take a look.
And someday, I hope to do the same for someone.

Hugo Trailer featuring 30 Seconds to Mars
I am obsessed with music in movie trailers lately. I feel that the right music can really make or break a trailer. If the music is right, it will do exactly what is intended. Excite the movie goer to see the film. It needs to capture the emotion and moment of the trailer. While I am a huge fan of Jordan Catalano, I don't exactly see that side in 30 Seconds to Mars. So when their song plays so well in the "Hugo" trailer, it makes me think twice. It fits in perfectly, doesn't it?
